White House Urges Legislation to Protect Online Harassment Victims Amid AI-Generated Tayor Swift Images
In the wake of AI-generated, explicit photos of mega-star Taylor Swift, the White House is stepping in and urging for legislation to safeguard victims of online harassment. This alarming incident involving AI technology has provoked substantial discussion about online safety and the urgent need for regulation.
Public attention was drawn to this incident when a post featuring the manipulated images reached an alarming 47 million views within the span of one day. While the original account was suspended, the images had already spread across various social media platforms, sparking the trending hashtag “Protect Taylor Swift”.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre described the incident as “alarming” and highlighted the urgent need for legislation to address the potential dangers of AI technology. According to The Verge, Jean-Pierre said, “Of course Congress should take legislative action. That’s how you deal with some of these issues.”
