Innovations in Music: Adnan Sami Weighs in on Artificial Intelligence
Adnan Sami, renowned singer and composer, shares his views on the growing utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in music. Taking an optimistic approach, Sami acknowledges both the pros and cons of this tech advancement. Moreover, he is joined by music maestro, AR Rahman, who recently applied AI in his work. Despite ongoing surge of AI music, critics call for opportunities for aspiring singers.
Known globally for his melodious chartbusters, Adnan Sami recently voiced his perspective on the controversial use of artificial intelligence in creating music. Sami shared a social media post where two young musicians recreated his timeless romantic song ‘Tera Chehra‘ using the AI-generated voice of legendary singer Kishore Kumar.
Commenting on the AI rendition, Sami wrote, “This is just so beautiful! If I were to compose this song for anyone to sing, it would have been my favourite Kishore da… I always felt curious about how it would have sounded in his voice. You both made it possible through AI! Kudos!”
Another notable musician, AR Rahman, coupled AI and music in his latest song ‘Thimiri Yezhuda’ for the film ‘Lal Salaam.’ While many fans praised the application of AI, some critics argued that aspiring singers deserve such opportunities, stirring mixed reactions.
Adnan Sami, known for hits such as ‘Bhar Do Jholi‘, ‘Lift Karadey‘ and ‘Sathiya‘, made his mark in the music industry shortly after becoming an Indian citizen on humanitarian grounds in 2016. Humbled by his contributions, he was later awarded India’s fourth-highest civilian accolade, the Padma Shri award, in 2021.
Dedicated to his parents, Sami described the honor as “not only a recognition but also a responsibility”. Beginning his Indian journey with a duet with the iconic Asha Bhosle, Adnan Sami continues to redefine music with unbound passion and talent.
