The Libertines’ Hilarious Reaction to Homer Simpson’s AI Cover of their Classic Hit
The popular English rock band The Libertines were in for a surprise, listening to an AI rendition of one of their renowned tracks covered by the beloved cartoon character, Homer Simpson. This unexpected version even left band members Pete Doherty and Carl Barât in a state of shock and amusement.
The two Libertines were stunned upon hearing the AI-generated cover of their 2003 hot single, “Don’t Look Back Into The Sun”. It seemed so original they barely noticed the difference, causing quite a laugh when they realized it.
After a moment of surprise, Pete amusingly questioned, “Who’s remixed this then?” His confusion persisted even after being told that ‘Homer Simpson’ was the one ‘singing’ their track.
A video clip of their reaction was posted on Instagram, leaving fans doubled over with laughter. One follower, @raphtibber, humorously commented on Pete’s shocked expression: “The look on Pete’s face! Wait! Is this what I sound like???” while another, @andy_obrien_live_music called the clip “brilliant”.
This isn’t the first Simpsons’ AI cover to raise eyebrows as fans have also enjoyed AI renditions of tracks by Muse and Green Day. Last July, a viral clip showed an AI Homer performing a cover of Arctic Monkeys’ 2013 single ‘R U Mine?’, complete with a music video made from clips taken from various Simpsons’ episodes.
The cult classic series, The Simpsons, is currently streaming on Disney Plus. Fans of the series and The Libertines alike can check out all the fun there.
